Viking sword type "H" - IX c.
A sword from the second half of the 9th century, a type H by Peterson’s typology. The original we have followed is currently in the Musée de l'Armée in Paris.
Swords of this type were found in a large area (present-day Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Finland) and were in use in a relatively long time (from the beginning of 9th century to the middle of 10th).
Forged and tempered blade has rounded edges to allow the use of the sword during combat (blunt blade version).
Cross and pommel are made of steel and polished. A decorative element characteristic to this sword lays between pommel and upper guard. Tang goes through the whole handle and is riveted at the top of pommel. Then covered with wooden handles and natural leather wrapped, which provides strong and secure grip.
Warning! The sharpened version of the blade, for safety reasons, is not recommended for fighting! We take no responsibility for effects of such using.
- blade width at cross 4,5 cm
- center of balance 6 cm
- weight 1,15 kg
- blade length 70 cm
